CGTL has over the years filed for a large range of patents in the GTL field. These patents addresses a number of areas, including catalyst design and performance, reactor design and configuration, operation, integration and control of GTL facilities.

CGTL has a long standing, ongoing relationship with IP experts Stratagem on all IP matters. The protection of intellectual property and more importantly establishing Freedom to Operate are key parts of CGTL’s strategy. CGTL conducts regular targeted Freedom to operate searches through Stratagem to ensure this. CompactGTL is currently in the process of generating new patents based on the work executed since 2018.

CompactGTL’s unique technology, for GTL applications, has been developed over many years.

CompactGTLs Proprietary Two Stage Fischer Tropsch Process

CompactGTLs patent portfolio includes key patents covering all aspects of its modular GTL process including reactor and catalyst design, process design, integration and operation. An example of this is CompactGTLs patented two-stage Fischer Tropsch Process.

Global License Granted to Shell

Following an opposition hearing in 2009, the process claims of CompactGTL’s European Patent number 1,567,616, which covers the two-stage Fischer Tropsch synthesis, were upheld as granted and without amendment. Shell withdrew its appeal against this decision and CompactGTL has granted Shell a global license to the patent.”

Equivalent patents covering the two-stage FT process are also now granted in numerous key territories around the world.
